Homebound Service

For Bethel Residents who are homebound and have no one who can regularly pick up and return items to the Library for them, a Homebound Service is offered. This service is carried out by a volunteer. Because of this, you may have to wait a short time for items to be brought to you or picked up. Usually at least several items are sent so that you will not run out of library materials before the next visit from the volunteer. There are no overdue fines for homebound patrons, although there will be a charge for a lost or damaged item.

A homebound library card will be issued free of charge to any Bethel resident who meets the eligibility requirements to receive homebound delivery service. Those wishing to apply for this service must complete a borrower registration form. The homebound library card is kept on file at the Library and is for use in the Bethel Public Library only.

As a part of the service you can request particular titles, authors, or types of books, books on CD, music CDs, and DVDs. Library staff will find the items and call the volunteer, who will contact you to deliver the items at a convenient time for both of you. Please see the below documents for additional information. To apply for this service, you may print the form and return it to the Library, or you may complete the online form and submit it electronically.

For assistance, please call the Adult Services Librarian at 203-794-8756 x 3. Homebound individuals unable to talk on the phone may have someone else call on their behalf, or may e-mail the Adult Services Department.
