What’s On View? Current Art Exhibits
The Bethel Public Library welcomes everyone to spend some time enjoying the art and collectibles on view now!
In the Morton Gallery, enjoy the beautifully rendered oil paintings of Suzanne Molineaux (right).
In the Maria Parloa Community Room, see the various painting styles of senior center art class students from Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, and Redding, curated by their instructor Adele Moros.
In the display case, the handiwork of staff members Priscilla and Barbara is on display. Handmade pieces include crocheted and knit blankets, sweaters, and stuffed toys. Join Barbara and Priscilla every Tuesday at 11 AM for a drop-in knit and crochet session, all levels of experience welcome!
On the second floor…
In the Morris Gallery (Accessible Art Project), get a close-up view of Honorah O’Neill’s captivating creatures.
In the display cabinet, look closely at the assortment of old bottles and glass transformers collected by Tom Borysiewicz, our Adult Services Librarian. Then visit Tom at the Reference Desk and he will tell you more about them!
Wait, there’s more!
In the Seelye House, come see our very special permanent P. T. Barnum collection, generously donated by Laurence Gibson and Cynthia NeJame, and carefully and lovingly assembled over many years. On view are important letters and correspondences, many of which highlight significant personal and pivotal events of the great showman’s life. Also included are rare broadsides, photographs, and cartes-de-visite, as well as artifacts from General Tom Thumb, Jenny Lind and Commodore Nutt.
