Oscars are Coming Up!

The Oscars are coming up, and we can’t wait!! Cast your ballot, win prizes, prep your red-carpet look, and party it up at the Library!

Tell us who you think should win in each category. Anyone who submits a completed ballot will be entered for a chance to win a special movie screening in the Library, for yourself and up to 10 lucky friends (details to be worked out mutually between winner & the Library). We’ll share the results of the vote, and how they compare with who ends up taking home the awards. Download and print your ballot here, or pick up a ballot from the Circulation Desk. Be sure to return your completed ballot to the Circulation Desk before 5 PM on Sunday, March 4.

Just hours before the Academy Awards air on Sunday, March 4, the Library is hosting an All-Ages Oscars Party to celebrate this major pop-cultural institution, providing our movie-lovers with a fun and exciting space for creative expression, and a chance to socialize with fellow community members!

No need to register for this drop-in event, but we do invite you to dress up either in your fancy “red carpet” finest, or in costume as a favorite actor or movie character – “best dressed” attendees will be awarded prizes in 4 categories:

• Red Carpet Best Dressed Youth
• Best in Costume Youth
• Red Carpet Best Dressed Adult
• Best in Costume Adult

We’ll have a photo-booth area with props for you to take selfies, plus a trivia game for a prize and bragging rights. There will also be plenty of time to relax and enjoy refreshments while footage from prior Academy Award ceremonies plays in the background. Finally, this will be your last chance to submit your completed ballot.
