All About Britain, Now at the Library

This January is turning out to be Britain month here at the Library: Earlier this month patrons enjoyed learning about the real world of Downton Abbey (thanks to Daily Fare for the delicious refreshments!). Coming up is another exciting program, Scotland: Not Just Men in Skirts (click here to learn more and register). And, we are rounding things out with an exhibit of British royal memorabilia spanning more than 100 years in the main floor exhibit case.

Items run the gamut from a portrait of Queen Mary (the current Queen’s grandmother – –you may be amazed at the resemblance!), to newspapers about King George VI’s sudden death (which led to Elizabeth’s ascension to the throne in 1952). There are also everyday items from Elizabeth’s silver jubilee, a coin minted to mark the passing of Lady Diana, and several photo “fan” collectibles and official coronation programmes.

Come visit Your Hometown Library’s main floor, to see the collection today! And don’t forget to sign up for Scotland: Not Just Men in Skirts. See you soon!
