April is National Poetry Month – Join us for a Poetry Coffeehouse!
In celebration of National Poetry Month, you are invited to a coffeehouse-style poetry reading and poetry open mic night, right here at the Library! Kicking things off with a brief poetry reading will be our own Senior Library Assistant, Olivia Von Kohorn, who will emcee the evening’s festivities.
Join us for the literary fun on Wednesday, April 22, 6:00-8:30 pm. From 6:00-6:30 pm, you will have a chance to browse a specially curated selection of poetry books from our collections, free to check out with a valid Library Card. During this time, any attendees interested in participating in the open mic portion of the evening must sign up for a time slot. Due to time constraints, up to 8 open mic readers may sign up for time slots up to 10 minutes long, on a first-come, first-served basis on the evening of the event. In keeping with the theme and spirit of this literary celebration, poetry selections must be suitable for all ages.
At 6:40 pm, Olivia will give a poetry reading, to be followed by those readers who have signed up for the open mic portion of the evening.
Whether this is your first foray into the world of poetry, or your hundredth, we invite you to come share your poems, share your favorite author’s poems, or just sit back and listen! Coffee courtesy of Molten Java, as well as light refreshments, will be served.
