Bethel High School Guidance department links

CollegeNet: The largest guide to colleges & financial aid on the web. It allows you to search by state or geographic region, public/private university, cost, and major, with many other features including a large scholarship database.

U.S. News & World Report College Rankings: Select a college on criteria such as location, academics, demographics and extracurriculars. Student editors contribute to this site.

Princeton Review: Counselor-O-Matic and Find-O-Rama, how to choose a school, campus life, admissions policies. Sections about graduate, law, business and medical schools also.

FinAid: An extensive site where visitors register, complete a profile, and then receive a list of all relevant funding sources. It offers extensive information on how to apply, where to apply, how to calculate costs, etc.

FAFSA: free application for federal student aid

College Board Online: Managed by the organization who administers SATs, this site provides a variety of searching including colleges, careers, and scholarship information. It also provides test dates and preparation information.

Customized Online SAT preparation from PrepMe for library patrons

Sallie Mae: Sallie Mae is the Student Loan Marketing Association, the major provider of loans to college students. It has an online course to walk visitors through the financial aid process. There are calculators to assist in computing college costs and loan applications to download.

Peterson’s Education Center: Information from the "Peterson’s Guides" is on the web, with information on how to write college application essays.

Student Guide from the Dept. of Education: Provided by the US Dept. of Education, this site will help determine eligibility for financial aid, government loans, and Pell grants.

Your Link to Educational Opportunities in Connecticut: Posted by the State Board of Governors for Higher Education. Here are two links for colleges, program majors, student aid, national service programs, career schools, job training, job search skills information, Veterans' programs, Alternate Route to Teacher Certification, and research information.

College-Scholarships.com: An all purpose college and scholarship information site with links to scholarship databases, college websites and online applications, and test prep information.

Going2college.org: The College Access Web site. For information about all the resources available in your state to help plan for a career, prepare for college and pay for college.
