Homebound ServiceFor Bethel residents who are homebound and have no one who can regularly pick up and return items to the Library for them, a Homebound Service is offered. This is a service carried out by a Friend of the Library who does it completely voluntarily. Because of this, you may have to wait a short time for items to be brought to you or picked up. Usually at least 4 items are sent so that you will not run out of library materials before the next visit from the volunteer. There are no overdue fines for homebound patrons, although there will be a charge for a lost or damaged item. To request Homebound service, you must have or get a Bethel Library card. Call the Adult Services Librarian at 794-8756 ext. 4. You can request particular titles, authors or types of books, also books on cassette and videos. The Library staff will find the items, call the volunteer from the Friends of the Library, who will contact you to deliver the items at a convenient time for both of you. A homebound person who is unable to talk on the phone may have someone else call for him or her. You may also email the librarian with your requests.
